Ashley Patterson have illness called Multiple Personality Disorder (MPD). It is condition where there are several completely different personalities in one body. It's also known as dissociative identity disorder that usually starts because of a childhood trauma. The victim shuts out the trauma by creating another identity or alters.
In this case, Ashley as a suspect don't even know about what she's been through, she's suspected as a murder but she even never realize it. ya, one of her alter taking over her, and did it. The most dominating alter is Toni Prescott, and she's the one that have to take responsibility in it.

Happy ending novel, alters have been disappear - Ashley is being cured, and can continue her dreams.
Interesting novel, the writer tells about MPD case briliantly, it enrich the reader one thing about psychology's matter : Multiple Personality Disorder. Series of murders happen and Ashley is framed and how this MPD is proved in a court of law is explained very well
